A good friend of mine shared an interesting story about an experience she had. She was driving on a secluded road during the day when a deer suddenly leapt onto the pathway. Despite her effort to brake, she was unable to stop the car in time and avoid hitting the deer. When she finally stopped and got out of the car, it was too late; the deer was no longer alive.

In that moment, she stood before the dead deer and said a prayer. She then described having a profound experience in which her eyes were opened, and she saw a cloudy mist in the shape of a deer rise from its body and flow upwards. The mist continued to rise until it eventually vanished from her sight.

Question: If animals don't have souls, as some believe, what was it that she witnessed coming out of the dead deer and flowing upwards?
